Clean place, and much better value than anything in Tokyo. The WiFi was decent, with occasional patchiness that wasn’t really an issue, and it’s easy to reset. The AC worked very well with no odd smells, and the water was drinkable. The location’s good too, about a 10 minute walk to Namba station and 15 to dotonburi. Kyoto takes about an hour if you get the right trains. The host was kind enough to remove the cleaning fee on one reservation when I added a few extra days, and let me keep my bags in the room. If I come back to Osaka and the same prices are available, I’ll definitely book again. All in all, a great stay.

The rooms are small, but we didn’t spend much time in ours, and the price was good. The place is clean and well positioned, reasonably near the subway, convenience store, restaurants, and shopping. There’s also coin-operated laundry right downstairs.

It was a comfortable stay, and the host kept in touch and made check-in easy. Having grocery and convenience stores just steps away was handy. I also appreciated how walkable the restaurants and bars around Dotonbori were from the unit.

For a couple of dollars more than the $20 nightly hostels, this place gives one or two guests a full self-catering apartment with a shower, toilet, balcony, TV, kitchenette, and free gym access. The similarly priced hostels I saw were cramped solo spaces with shared bathrooms, showers, and kitchens. It’s the best value bachelor-style apartment I found in central Osaka, around Naniwa/Namba, though it can be hard to find on booking sites because hostels crowd the lowest-price search results. The apartment is on the quiet east end of a popular road, about a 10 minute walk from the town center, shopping malls, restaurants, and train station. Several convenience stores and two Chinese supermarkets are within a three minute walk. It’s an automated self-check-in property with no on-site employees except for room cleaning at 11:00. There’s no keyed building entry; the provided code opens your apartment door easily. For a last-minute booking, I suggest AirBnB, as the property management seems more responsive there. I booked through Agoda, and another guest told me they got prompt replies using AirBnB, while Agoda seemed less responsive. If you book in advance, it doesn’t matter. I took off one star for a few problems. The sunken bedroom at the end of the hallway, beyond the shower, kitchenette, and toilet, could cause a trip when walking back from the toilet at night. The promised casting from a device to the TV didn’t work, and I think my room was missing the dongle. For clean sheets and towels every day, you have to wash them yourself in the building’s laundry room; there’s a drying rack on the balcony. Room refreshes aren’t provided, and you handle your own garbage using the bins outside, but no replacement bags are provided. The shower’s magnetic shelf for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash falls off the wall easily and needs replacing. The curtains are attached to the rail with cheap key-chain rings and need upgrading.
