Moxy Osaka Honmachi

The room was spacious by Japan standards, which was one reason we chose this hotel. I travel often in the US and abroad, and was thrilled to find an in-room drinking water dispenser, something I wish more hotels had. Moxy hotels don't have regular closets, as I knew before booking. Instead there's a wall of peg boards, so people with lots of clothes that need hanging, especially on longer stays, should keep that in mind. It wasn't a deal breaker for us. My husband and I were very pleased. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the decor and shared spaces felt fun and vibrant.

We had a comfortable, spacious room, in line with what I expect from the affiliated brand. The kids enjoyed the pool and foosball table, and there was plenty of seating in the lobby and bar. Check-in went smoothly, as I've come to expect at Marriott Bonvoy properties. We stayed four nights over Spring Break, and being near train stations was a priority. Several stations were a five to ten minute walk away, and Dotonbori was close too. We'd definitely stay here again if we visit Japan.

The hotel is modern and clean, the rooms are on the larger side, and the shower is great. But I really didn't like that staff entered our room, cleaned it, and changed the towels even though we hadn't requested cleaning, didn't want fresh towels, and didn't want anyone touching our things. Why set rules if they're not followed? They tried to find us fluffier towels, but they weren't the same, and the thicker bath mat was gone too. The texture and thickness of bath items matter a lot to me. This happened on our first night, so it wasn't a hygiene or safety concern. The hotel says to leave towels on the floor for a change and that cleaning is by request only. The team tried to help, but seemed annoyed, as if our request was a bother and something we shouldn't have asked for.

I stayed one night between connections. The rooms were very spacious by Japanese standards, and all the staff were kind and spoke English very well. Sue at the front desk was especially friendly, kind, and accommodating.
