Nakayama Guesthouse

Good, good, good.

The location suited us, with Osaka Castle nearby, and the price was cheap. It took a little less than 15 minutes to walk to the nearest train station, and Seven-Eleven was about five minutes away. For inexpensive accommodation without meals, it wasn’t a bad choice. The building was old, but clean. We stayed in a Japanese-style suite with two adults and one child, looking for a cheap guesthouse with at least a toilet and shower. Rakuten Travel’s photos only showed Western-style rooms, so even though we’d booked Japanese-style, we assumed that was what we’d get. I should have checked more carefully, but we were surprised to find a Japanese-style room and toilet. The room was very spacious, with enough futons for what looked like around six people. There were plenty of hangers, and Wi-Fi was available, with the password on a note attached to the refrigerator. The shower room was clean, and the towels were the kind you’d use at home. There were no toothbrushes. The sink was by the window and looked like one you might see in a hospital. There was also a luggage elevator with a very retro feel.

We were a family of five sharing one room, and it worked out quite fine. The accommodation was clean and affordable.

It’s inexpensive, but the place is old, and I wasn’t sure about how clean the facilities were.
