Poly Hostel 2 Namba

We had a pleasant stay and would recommend it. Kuromon Market is a very short walk away, which my parents enjoyed visiting every morning for fresh food and souvenirs. Dotonbori is walkable too, and the place is fairly close to two stations. We stayed in a Japanese-style room. A Taiwanese receptionist helped us check in on our arrival day, and the process was quick. The counter was unattended on the other days. Shoes have to be removed at the entrance by the counter. Since it’s hostel-style, rooms aren’t cleaned every day. That didn’t bother us for a short stay, and there were plenty of toiletries. Our room had a private toilet and beds or tatamis for about six people. We were four with four large to medium suitcases, and it felt like more people than that might make the room cramped. There’s a shared kitchen and balcony on the top floor, plus a vending machine, if you need to prepare food.

The room was clean and spacious, and getting in and out was easy. The location is convenient for Namba, nipponbashi station, and kuromon market. There’s no elevator, so if you’ve got large luggage, it’s better to ask for a lower floor.

There’s room to arrange large suitcases, and four electrical outlets on the sides of the room. Towels are available, though they don’t replace them. You can cook meals or breakfast, and I’d recommend the place for a large family. The one downside is the walk to dotonbori, about 15 minutes, which feels quite far.

It’s a small, cozy, family-style place with comfortable units for four. The facilities were the cleanest I’ve ever seen in this kind of accommodation. But we got bitten by bedbugs, a lot of them, in room E. The owners should consider treating the beds.
