R Hotel Namba

We got a free upgrade, which was a nice touch. The hotel was lovely, clean, and quiet.

I spent nearly an hour waiting to check in while the staff kept contacting a superior. When the superior finally arrived, they didn’t verify my identity and immediately said my booking could be canceled. I’d already submitted my payment details and ID, booked a double room, and explained that my name’s pronunciation in Chinese characters was the same as the English name on the reservation. I kept saying they could cancel it if that was what they intended, but they still wouldn’t act. Earlier, I called at 11:44 AM on January 29 to confirm my reservation and was told they couldn’t find my information. I checked with the booking platform, then called again at 12:38 PM and got the same answer. Once they finally confirmed my details, no one apologized. After all that waiting, they didn’t reimburse my parking fee or even say sorry. Now the hotel is replying to my Google review as though it was all my fault. How could they be unable to verify who I was for check-in, then cancel the booking without verifying me? Are staff trained before they start, or do they hire people regardless of qualifications?

The location, rooms, amenities, and staff at R Hotel Namba were all incredible. The front desk staff were among the kindest people we’ve met, and their hospitality still sticks with us. This stay was a real highlight of our trip. Thank you for such a great experience.
