Swissotel Nankai Osaka

Ko helped us get a room before the usual check-in time and even let us use the sauna, spa and gym while we waited, so we could freshen up after our flight. During the stay, Ko at Reception and Mounir at the Concierge always greeted us with a smile and thoughtful suggestions. The hotel is right above Namba Station, so you can enter without going outside. I recommend taking the rapi:t train from KIX airport straight to Swissotel. Our newly renovated room was spacious, with a city view, room for large suitcases, a good bed, a couch and a roomy bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well maintained, easy to reach by public transport and walkable to the key attractions in town. I’d recommend it to solo travelers, business travelers, couples or families visiting Osaka.

The breakfast buffet had lots of choice, and the staff were attentive and responsive. We also had our last lunch before leaving at Le Japenese, the hotel restaurant, and were pleasantly surprised by the food quality, presentation and attentive service. The hotel is older, but its location near Osaka’s lively center and public transport makes up for that. The whole staff seemed focused on customers. A receptionist who spoke French and had a strong North American, Canadian accent gave us a particularly warm welcome. Many thanks to him for being kind, helpful and professional. Our room was on a higher floor, on the right side, and had a beautiful view of Osaka and the distant hills. It was a bit dated, though. This is a great base for enjoying Osaka, but I’d still like to see the rooms modernized.

We had a great stay at the Swissotel Osaka. There’s plenty to do nearby, with stations, shops and several konbini close by. Both our king and queen rooms were comfortable, and the king was a little bigger than the average Japanese hotel room. The beds were soft, and there were lots of dining choices in the hotel. I especially recommend the steak at Bar36, and the beef fat caramels after dinner were to die for.

The Japanese bath house was a wonderful place to unwind after a long day of walking. The hotel’s location is very convenient, with food and shopping areas including Takashimaya right downstairs. The Kansai Airport Transfer is also right there. I had to extend my stay because of the typhoon, and the front desk agent kept me in my existing room. I booked an extra night through the mobile app, and they simply merged the bookings. The whole process was seamless. Every team I dealt with, from the bell men and check-in desk to housekeeping, spa and Executive Lounge, provided excellent service. The staff were very proficient in English. Accor should be proud of how well this team is trained. Thank you, and I hope to come back soon.
