Breakfast was simple, but I actually liked it. The room itself was basic, with slow WiFi and poor soundproofing. I could hear every little noise from the other rooms. The entrance is small and easy to miss, and the subway stations are about a five-minute walk away. The staff spoke very little English, and I didn’t feel they showed the Japanese omotenashi I’d hoped for. I arrived at 6am looking like a zombie, but they made me wait until 4pm because cleaning wasn’t finished, even though check-in for everyone else was at 3pm. I was allowed in at 3.58pm. No one offered water or the WiFi password, which would have helped pass the long wait with a movie. Such a disappointment.

The staff were really friendly, and the view was nice. Both the room and bathroom were spotless, and breakfast and coffee were complimentary. I’ve stayed at three hotels in Japan, from Osaka to Tokyo, and this has been the best so far. I’d definitely come back.

Breakfast was good, and Dotonbori is within walking distance. The subway is about a 10-minute walk away. The big problem was the noise, even at night. We didn’t sleep at all, with traffic, trains, and motorcycles passing right below the hotel.

This Toyoko Inn meets the usual standards, and the service was especially good. It sits right beside a highway, which has its downsides, but the traffic noise didn’t come through into the hotel.

Worst Toyoko Inn I’ve stayed at. Wind came through gaps around the window and made the room freezing. The location was inconvenient, and the walls might as well not have been there because I could hear everything next door. A horrible experience. Avoid it if you see this.
