X-Wave Umeda（ORIX HOTELS & RESORTS）

The station access was handy: about 5-8 minutes on foot to the nearest metro and 15 minutes to Osaka station. Staff were great, as they are at most Japanese hotels, and the amenities were basic. It’s mainly a business hotel. The room had a bad smell that was still there after three days of running the AC, and the pillow was so uncomfortable I woke up with a sore neck every morning. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but those things bothered me.

The large desk is a useful feature if you need to study or get work done. Though the rooms aren’t especially big, they have what you need for a comfortable stay. Despite the name “Seminar House,” it operates like a typical Japanese business hotel. The nearest station is a bit of a walk away. For Shin-Osaka and the Shinkansen, a taxi is the most convenient choice, taking around 10 minutes and costing roughly 2,000 yen.

The breakfast was generous and high quality, and the staff were kind. I stayed four nights and had no problems at all. The room was comfortable and spacious, too. For getting around, Osaka station is a 10-minute walk, with access to every line you can think of, and the Brown Metro Line is five minutes away on foot. I’d definitely recommend it.

A good option for a longer stay, with shops, parks, and a station nearby. Since it’s a business hotel, the rooms come with bigger desks and stationery. The fridge is tucked inside a cupboard, and you can hang clothes or have a masseuse come to your room. The bathroom is roomy enough to stretch out in the bath, and even spread your knees on the toilet.
