The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the staff were kind. It was lovely waking up to the sound of water trickling outside.

The staff were really helpful when the lift was out of order on the morning we left. They carried our luggage down the stairs and waived the 1,000 Yen sake fee. The drink bar was good, though only six people could sit by the fireplace. The service was generally good, except we had to make our own beds, which was a first for us after staying at many onsen hotels and ryokans. The onsens were good but rather small, with no views. Dinner looked nice and tasted good, though the portion was small, more suited to a woman with a normal appetite. The dessert was prepared in front of us, but the flame didn’t work as claimed. It wasn’t a big deal. Breakfast was simple but okay. The overall interior looked modern, but the room itself still felt old-fashioned, so the styles didn’t match.

The breakfast was quite nice, and most of the fusion-style dinner courses tasted good. The portions, though, were far too small for men. The room was spacious and the hotel has a modern onsen style, but I still don’t understand why guests have to make their own beds.

The staff were absolutely wonderful and welcoming, and the spacious rooms were very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic, a real culinary delight. There were complimentary social drinks on the first floor every day from 4-8pm, with wine, whiskey, and non-alcoholic choices. I’d definitely stay again. One thing to know: people with tattoos aren’t allowed in the onsen. The private onsen was beautiful, but the water was scorching hot, so I couldn’t get in and soak.
