I only chose this place because it was the sole vacancy during Golden Week, and I really regret it. The location wasn't convenient, about a 15-minute walk from Motomachi Port. I'm giving it two stars because there is a parking lot. The whole hotel smelled musty, and that odor got into all my fabric belongings. There were tiny black bugs all over the tatami, and I couldn't sleep. Breakfast was included and there was a hot spring, but I was too scared to use either. Early the next morning, I hurried to a public bath at another facility instead.

I have to stay here for three nights for work, and it's been really tough lol. The room I was shown smelled musty, and the place is dusty and not properly cleaned. The only bathroom is shared on the first floor. Breakfast is supposedly free, but I'm too scared to eat it. Ants keep showing up from somewhere. I kill them, more come back, so I've given up and left them alone. When I came out of the bath, there was a shiny black thing in the hallway. The window was left open, so of course things get in (°▽°). I've left the TV and lights on because I don't think I'll sleep with the room dark. If my eyesight were better, I'd probably see even more...

If you're particular about cleanliness, this will be hard to put up with. The rooms on the second floor don't block much sound, and you can hear everything. The front desk is crowded with art objects, and insecticide cans are lying around the first floor. The owner? Maybe a talkative Chinese woman? The pool isn't in use, the entrance door is manual, and the slippers are reused from Daysbo. Dust and hair in the room's toilet and bathroom changing area made it look like they hadn't been cleaned. The refrigerator took ages to cool anything, and I didn't feel like eating breakfast. There are glass cups, but they weren't usable. Towels are in the room, while bath towels, toothbrushes, and razors are in the changing area. There were other things there too, but they were creepy. There's a TV and a bidet toilet. I also found centipedes and cockroaches in the room. A bottle of spring water in the fridge had a dirty cap, so I didn't drink it. It's nothing like the famous Mandarin Island Hotel, the difference is like night and day. I'd skip breakfast. For Izu Oshima, calling the tourist association to find a place may work better than booking online. They seem to know of places available for direct booking even when none are listed online.

My wife was so itchy she couldn't sleep, and we didn't use the bath here at all. We went to Oshima Onsen instead. The dirt was the worst part: the front desk, halls, rooms, and bedding, all of it. They advertise a pool, but it was more like a swamp. I doubt even a dog would go in. If you're looking at this place because it's cheap, I'd go for a dormitory or youth hostel instead. There's nothing good about it. Maybe the only thing is that the owner or manager seems to be of Chinese descent, so you might be able to speak Chinese. Their Japanese is broken. If you're into abandoned places or scary stuff, it could leave a lasting impression. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, and even one star feels generous. I reviewed it before, but that review seems to have been deleted. I'm posting again because I don't want anyone else to have the same experience on a trip to Izu Oshima.
