Mizusawa is my wife’s hometown, where she grew up, and we come back every year. We always stay at the Plaza Inn, which is easily the best hotel around here. It feels like home away from home. The rooms are comfortable, the service is impeccable, and the restaurants are excellent, especially the Japanese restaurant, Kikusui. The garden is beautiful too, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

There are lots of places to shop and eat around the hotel, and the staff were super welcoming. They had shower amenities in the lobby for guests to take up to their rooms, and one of the staff even suggested which product I should use, haha. The single room was spacious, and they gave each guest yokan. There was also lots of Shohei Ohtani memorabilia, so fans will like that. The only downside was getting there from the train station. It was a bit far, so we had to take a taxi.

Friendly, nice staff, a clean room, and a convenient location. We’d definitely stay here again the next time we visit Mizusawa.

I spent one weekday night here in a business single room in November 2025. The building and facilities are pretty old, and I wouldn’t expect much from the room. For the price, I suppose it was fair. Breakfast was just okay, neither good nor bad, and the women working in the breakfast area were cheerful and pleasant. Front desk service was average too.
