Yokohama Sakuragicho Washington Hotel

This was my second stay, mainly for BioJapan. The best part is the lovely view over Minato Mirai from the window. The hotel is clean, compact, and well equipped. It’s a short walk from Sakuragicho Station, with malls and restaurants nearby, and BioJapan’s venue is about 15-20 minutes away on foot. Breakfast is mostly Japanese-style, but the menu doesn’t change much from one day to the next. Still, it was a pleasant stay for a reasonable, affordable price.

I was lucky to get a great view toward the Ferris wheel, which made me love Yokohama even more. The hotel is close to all sorts of useful things, including restaurants, stations, elevators, escalators, and 7eleven. The lobby is clean and the staff are professional. I also appreciated the two laundry rooms, especially for a longer stay.

After four years of traveling in Japan, this is easily my favorite hotel. They upgraded my room and let me extend my stay in a different room for an extra day without checking out or leaving the hotel. The staff are English-friendly, and the skin care amenities were great. My wife loved them.

The rooms are tiny, with almost no space for luggage. On our last morning, I got a surprising call at 9:50 saying checkout was at 10. I’d never heard that before. We’d stayed here a few times in the past and always checked out around 11 or 12, and this time they changed the rule without telling us. I went to the lobby to check out five minutes late, at 10:05, and they tried to charge me extra. I refused.
