Staff were warm, courteous, helpful, and knew their stuff. Breakfast came with the stay. It was simple, but fresh, tasty, and thoughtfully made with local ingredients. The place is truly ski in, ski out, with a run leading straight down to a chair lift. Rooms are comfortable, though the bathroom is on the small side. I’d gladly come back. The rooms were spacious and quiet, and it felt like good value compared with many nearby places. We’d stay again if we came back to this village. The property itself was beautiful, with a great view from our window and a ski in, ski out spot on the slopes. The restaurant and cafe in the building were basic but did the job. Cafes and restaurants farther down the hill could be a tough walk after skiing, especially in the cold or with small kids. Getting to Happo One outside bus hours was difficult, and peak season buses could be unreliable. We also didn’t find the accommodation staff very friendly or helpful.

For a first ever ski trip and our honeymoon with friends, this was such a memorable stay. The rooms had a lovely modern Japanese style, and the gear storage area, sauna, and games room all made it easy to settle in. Windy helped us with bookings and questions before we even reached Japan, and she and her team made us feel welcome when we arrived. The hotel sits right on the gentle Tsugaike slopes, so it worked brilliantly for a beginner like me, while my husband could ski down to the chair lift. They also sell discounted ski passes. On a heavy snow day, our taxi didn’t show up when we needed to get to the station. Windy arranged for Jenny to take us instead. They had to dig the snow out so the car could move, and Jenny drove those snowy roads incredibly well. We were so grateful for all their help. If you want a great stay, you won’t regret coming here.

Ski Inn Hakuba made our ski and snowboard holiday incredibly easy. There are great rooms and facilities, good food at the hotel or a short walk into town, instructors who can pick you up at the door, and private parking. We’re an American family with dozens of overseas trips behind us, and this was the friendliest, most professional staff we’ve come across. We’ll absolutely return. Book with confidence.
