Pension Kobekko

Lady Manmaru always greeted us with a warm “Welcome home” when we returned, and the owners were kind, hospitable, and full of useful advice about getting around. Pension Kobekko was a handy base for visiting the ski hills around Hakuba valley. It's in a quiet spot, 1 km from the base of Tsuigaike ski resort. A shuttle runs from the pension to the ski hill, where you can catch the V2 shuttle to other area resorts. That costs 1000 yen per person in cash, or 800 yen if you buy tickets online. The two large Japanese baths felt luxurious. Each room can book a 45-minute slot. I'll book another stay at Pension Kobekko when we come back to Hakuba Valley.

We loved the evening meals, with their refined Chinese taste. The staff were friendly and helpful, and wonderful with our two-year-old. The pension is in a quiet spot, about a five-minute drive from Tsugaike ski resort. They run a shuttle there in the morning and evening. There's a hot bath, a big kids' playroom, and a shared space for relaxing or reading. A must go.

Landlady Manmaru made our stay especially welcoming with her kindness, humour, and care. The other staff were lovely too. The food was delicious, and the baths were nice and well kept. We could eat at the inn without going out, and use the laundry machine onsite. We found this place while looking for somewhere to stay before hiking the alps. It's very close to Tsugaike Gondola and Ropeway. The beds were comfortable, and the room's AC and heating worked perfectly. Free parking was a perk, and the landlady lent us bear bells for going out. I'd recommend the inn to anyone staying in Hakuba.

The Japanese bath was a nice extra, and they arranged shuttle rides to and from the nearby village for us. The staff were helpful and made room for our requests. We had a lovely, homey stay near the ski resort.
