The ski area worked well for everyone, and the staff were brilliant. We loved the cute village and found the cabins roomy enough for all eight of us, though the kids were surprised to sleep on futons. It seems like a perfect family spot in winter. For anyone who isn't skiing, I'd really recommend hiring a car to get around. We'd definitely stay here again.

A quiet, clean campsite with a lovely natural setting. We had a peaceful stay, and I'd highly recommend it if you enjoy nature and want somewhere calm.

The room was cosy and comfortable, with a full kitchen and a roomy bathroom with a bathtub. We chose it for the private onsen, and having that facility in the room was lovely. There's a big discount supermarket nearby called Trial, where we could pick up food and drinks, though the place is a little far from the main town. The room felt stuffy, and ventilation seemed limited. That would probably be nice in winter, but it wasn't ideal in summer. We were also close to a camping area, which could get noisy at night. Check-in was the most awkward part. The stated window was only 15:00 to 18:00. We were going to Otaru and had tried to arrange an earlier check-in at 11:00, but were told we couldn't get the keys until the regular hours. We ended up calling the emergency number, then learned the room had already been unlocked and our keys left inside. The room was a strange drive from reception, and staff hadn't explained where it was when we checked in.

We were close to the city during our Otaru visit, but could still hear nature around us. The free Wi-Fi was handy too, since the kids could use their tablets.

The room was spacious, the bath was fantastic, and the private outdoor onsen was a real plus. It also had plenty of kitchenware. The one downside was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke in our room.
