It was such a relaxing, laid-back stay. The food was delicious and sourced from local farms, and the staff were wonderful. I also appreciated all the thoughtful little details.

We've stayed at Sanyoan twice, first for two nights and then again in 2026. Both visits were lovely, and I feel lucky to have experienced it. The room was great, the service amazing, and the food absolutely amazing. It's the best onsen in Japan to me. I hope to return next year.

I've been visiting hot springs for 31 years, and this is the best hotel in Hokkaido I've found. I'm happy to come back next year ❤️

Dinner was a highlight of our stay. We booked a room with a private onsen, and there was also a lovely public bath at the hotel. We could use the larger public onsen at its sister hotel, just a three-minute walk away.

This cosy boutique ryokan adjoins its sister hotel, the Daichi, about 100 m away. The artistic, creative touches are what made it feel deserving of a high rating. The outside entrance was a letdown, though the lobby inside was nicely decorated. Service and other amenities felt lacking for such a high rating. They tried to help, but staff didn't communicate with each other about our requests, so we had to keep explaining what we'd already asked for. It got tiring.
