Kotoyuu Hotel

This tavern feels snug and ravishing to me.

I had dinner and breakfast here, and both were delicious. My room had an amazing view of Lake Biwa. I was in Shiga for sightseeing, and the hotel is about a 10-minute shuttle ride from Ogoto Onsen Station. It’s next to a spa facility and has a large parking lot. Hotel guests can use the spa for free and get a service voucher after checkout. There’s also a public bath in the hotel. A convenience store is nearby, but there aren’t many restaurants or places to play. The lake view was excellent.

Kotoyu Hotel is cold, old, and awful. Even when it’s 30°, the air blowing out dries my skin. It’s noisy, dust is flying around, and I can’t sleep. The restaurant serves only frozen food, and it’s all terrible. For me, this is the worst hotel and hot spring facility in Japan right now. You should never use it. The hot spring next door is Agaryanse.

It’s written “Itoyui” but pronounced “Kotoyuu.” This is a small hotel, and the parking lot is shared with Agaryanse. The main draw is access to the hot spring at Agaryanse next door. The hotel has its own bath too, though it only fits about five people. Since the neighboring Agaryanse doesn’t open until 10am, this is the only place to take an early morning bath. I was on the fourth floor, and the view of Lake Biwa from my room was quite nice.
