Super Hotel Oyama

The public hot spring bath has a nice design, and the location is good. Staff were friendly and helpful. If noise bothers you, ask for a quiet room, since a nearby walk sign beeps. They were a bit stingy with towels, so ask for extra ones in a normal size.

There's a shared natural onsen, and the free breakfast has a good mix of Japanese and Western options. Free drinks are available from 3pm to 8:30pm, with a good selection of alcoholic drinks, other beverages, and coffee. Oyama Station is an 8-minute walk away. There's also a bus stop a 3-minute walk away. The bus takes 10 minutes to Festival Walk shopping mall and onsen day spa, and costs 200 yen.

Aside from this issue, it's what you'd expect from a business hotel, but the bathrooms are extremely small. I couldn't even stand straight in front of the mirror, and they don't replenish the toilet paper. I ran out and had to ask the front desk for more. The hotel has a cash back system where you can exchange points for cash. At check-in, staff told me I could exchange points any time within one year of earning them. They didn't say that the exchange has to happen before checkout. After checking out, I couldn't get the cash back unless I made another booking within a year. That was badly explained and came as an unpleasant surprise when I tried to claim it.

The big bath was great, and the staff were super helpful with great service. Oyama Station is several minutes away on foot, which wasn't too bad.
