After hiking, it was nice to come back to a buffet dinner, and drinks were included with the evening meal. Rebun doesn't have many restaurants, and they close early, so I ended up appreciating the dinner option even though I wouldn't have chosen it if I'd had a choice. The food was good, with traditional local Hokkaido dishes served on a lovely tray. After three days, they gave me a different meal from the other guests and saved me a table by the window. Staff said they didn't want me eating the same dinner every day, which was thoughtful. The restaurant view was amazing, and the website photos are reliable. I won't share my own photos. I booked five nights in July 2025 to make the most of Rebun. I could only reserve a bedroom with breakfast and dinner, and the single-person price was the same as for two, so it ended up very pricey. I chose the least expensive room, with no view, which was fine. The hotel looks a little old inside, though it's been refurbished recently. My bedroom still felt old, with cigarette marks on the tatami mats and a lingering smell from when it used to be a smoking room. The large sento had several baths at different temperatures.

We were there 27-28oct. The hotel is a little far from the ferry terminal, but the sea-facing view is excellent. There's a small provision store right next to it, where we bought cup noodles and ice cream, and a bus stop beside the store. A bigger supermarket and restaurants are along the route to the terminal, about a 5-10 minute walk. Our ferry was cancelled on checkout day, so we had to stay another night. The staff were helpful and accommodating despite the communication gap, and a translation app worked. They helped us change rooms and gave us lots of information. Even with the cancellation, they still ran the shuttle to the terminal so we could find food. Notices in the lift also covered ferry cancellations and the bus shuttle. It was off season, with only this hotel and another dorm-style place available. The hotel was operating with minimal services: no room or dinner service, just breakfast.

The meals were great, with a traditional set Japanese dinner and a mixed breakfast buffet, and the hotel sits right on the water. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards. I was surprised to find just one pillow, since I'm used to sleeping with five, but everything else in the room was fine. Some reviews are a bit harsh about the Wi-Fi. It doesn't reach above the second floor, but that's how it is. This place isn't run down. It's not a five-star hotel, but it's more than I expect from a three-star place.

Some of the Google complaints are fair, especially the lack of Wi-Fi in the rooms, though I think the reviews lean unfairly negative. The hotel is clean and modern, the food was delicious, and the hot spring bath was clean too. Service was attentive and helpful.

Handy spot near the ferry terminal, and there's an onsen at the hotel. Wi-Fi only works in the lobby, though, not in the rooms.
