Colorful Kanemo

The food was packed with Sado specialties and was truly delicious. It’s a bit far from the main tourist spots, but well worth the trip. I woke to the sound of a nightingale. The heating was on full blast, and it was incredibly comfortable. The futon was spacious and came with a mattress, so I slept really well.

That coffee was a surprise. I usually find drip coffee not very good, but this one was smooth and easy to drink, so try it if you stay here. We had it with food we brought for breakfast. We were in Sado to visit a friend's family and see the sights, and Karafuru Kanemo made a lovely base: the old house has roomy, very clean rooms, and the beach is only a few minutes away on foot. Beach time, a BBQ and fireworks made for another memorable summer holiday.

The catered dinner and breakfast were both excellent, especially the crab, which was incredibly delicious. The menu does lean more toward adults, though. Our whole family was happy with the stay in this beautifully renovated old house, and the room was a relaxing place to spend time.

We spent one night here with our one-year-old. The old Japanese house had a nice feel, and the updated toilet and shower and air conditioning in two rooms made things comfortable. We did worry about the floor getting dirty since our child walked around barefoot. When we wanted to crack the windows open, there were no screens, so we wiped the floor ourselves with the mop provided.
