Breakfast wasn't to my taste, so I'd look for food elsewhere if possible. The room was spacious for two people and good value for the size. Some of the amenities feel outdated, especially the shower, where you have to turn separate hot and cold controls to get the temperature right. Still, I'd recommend staying here in Saga because it's near the station.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful and seemed to cater to different preferences. I stayed five nights and enjoyed every bit of it. This Saga branch is one of my favorite Route Inn hotels in Japan. It has comfortable rooms, English-speaking staff, and the usual free public baths for guests, as well as being very close to the train station. I've stayed at about four Route Inn branches. The brand has locations all over Japan and tends to deliver consistently on customer service, though some branches offer especially distinctive services. I'd highly recommend this one if you're visiting this remarkable city, with its heritage and influence on modern Japan before and around the start of the Meiji Restoration.

The room was clean and had the amenities we needed, and the hotel offered free coffee in the lobby at certain times of day. It's also very convenient, close to Saga JR station.

The public bath is a big plus, and the breakfast buffet is good. The hotel has its own garage and sits downtown, across from Saga railway station.

It felt like an incinerator, with cigarette smoke throughout every floor. The place is old and dirty, and there were no English-speaking staff. Avoid this hotel.
