We came for the private bath, and the view was lovely. On a sunny day, the location must be especially nice. It also felt secluded, which made it a great place to stay ✌. There were five of us, all men, and we were comfortable with no complaints. The room was very spacious, and I liked that the sauna was separate from the bath. There are only three reclining chairs, but you can always find ways to lie on the floor and “totonou.” Lemon water, Pocari Sweat, and Oronamin C are available for free.

We’d really hoped to spend our honeymoon at this beautiful ryokan, but the service was disappointing. The website booking system didn’t work, so we emailed. When health problems meant we had to cancel the trip, we gave two weeks’ notice. After rescheduling, we emailed Suginoya twice and got no reply, so we called in Japanese. They eventually answered one of the emails, but staff then stopped responding and we couldn’t complete the reservation. In the end, we booked another ryokan in the area. It was really sad to have this happen at such a beautiful place.

We had a pleasant, peaceful stay at this ryokan in Saga Prefecture. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, and there was an English-speaking staff member. Check-out is officially at 10am, but they offered us until 11am, which was nice. 😊
