Super Hotel Sakai Marittima

The staff were friendly, and the place had a nice atmosphere. It's just over five minutes on foot south of Sakai Station, a bit away from the downtown area, so it's better to eat and drink before heading there. The front desk is on the second floor, with a large bath on the first. My room was about the size you'd expect in a regular business hotel. I missed the free breakfast, which I regret.

The hotel was a great deal when I visited at the end of the year, even with prices soaring. It's a little walk from the station, but the quieter spot away from the bustle was a plus. There's a Family Mart across the crosswalk and a ramen shop next door, so finding something to eat is easy. They also serve a welcome alcoholic drink in the evening. The large public bath uses transported hot spring water, and it was still great to have. The breakfast space is on the small side, and with just one elevator, mornings get crowded. Maybe the low price means local residents stay here often. In any case, people were generally well-mannered, and there weren't many foreign visitors because of the location, so my stay felt very pleasant. There was some noise inside the building, and the toilet and bath in my room seemed a little dated, but it was acceptable. I did find a long hair in the bathtub, clearly a woman's hair. I have a shaved head, so I'm sure it was left by the previous person during cleaning, which was disappointing. Even so, it's definitely the best value for money, and I hope they keep pairing low prices with good service. There's also a cheap coin parking lot right next to the hotel, so arriving by car is no problem.
