HOTEL R9 The Yard Sakaide

The room was roomy and spotless, and the bathroom was sparkling clean too. It’s tucked one street back from the main road, so it was very quiet. The coffee service was delicious, and I enjoyed the late-night snacks heated in the microwave. It’s inexpensive, the service is perfect, and you can get in touch by email or phone. A hundred points. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Kagawa.

The room was clean, and having a microwave made the included frozen breakfast easy to prepare. It was cold inside, though, and I wondered if there was any insulation. There’s not much around, so you need to stock up at the convenience store, which is a bit far away. The location is just bad unless you’re driving. I used to stay at container hotels a lot, but this time there were no rooms available, so I ended up here. The foreign staff member was unfriendly at check-in, but very nice when I checked out. It made me realize how much staffing matters.

I like HOTEL R9 because it’s clean, has a microwave and fridge, and offers snacks. But unlike the other R9 locations I’ve stayed at, I could hear noise from the next room. There was a shipping container next door. I’m used to staying in separate rooms with stairs, so that was disappointing. The frozen curry snacks also tasted a little different this time.

The room had a roomy entrance where we took off our shoes, and the slippers were sturdy and comfortable. It had two beds, one near the front and one at the back, with a TV on the wall. The wide bed made for a comfortable night's sleep. The unit bathroom was spacious, with plenty of room to stand by the sink. I also liked the large, two-tier refrigerator for souvenirs and freezing bottled water to use as ice packs the next day. Having a microwave in the room meant we could heat the frozen snacks from the front desk whenever we wanted. The coin laundry was handy for washing and drying clothes. It seemed like a container hotel, but there was nothing to complain about. I'd definitely stay again.
