Fun Gate Hotel Sapporo

We visited Japan twice to see my wife’s family in Sapporo, once in February and again in August. In February, the snow piles were typically two meters high, but the hotel stayed warm and dry inside. The entrance was clean and safe for walking and getting in and out of a taxi. Breakfast was delicious, with Japanese and Western food for ¥1,000. The front desk service was excellent. They also had free umbrellas, toiletries, eating utensils, parking attached to the hotel, and a washer, dryer, and ironing machine on every floor. There are two elevators, so we never waited several minutes to go up or down, and the lobby restroom was clean and useful during breakfast. The location is great. Sapporo Park, with buses and the subway, is a five-minute walk west. Shopping is about five minutes to the northwest, and there are a few restaurants within a five-minute walk. Walk 15 minutes north and you’re in the heart of downtown. We’ll stay here again.

For the price, this was really good, and the service was great too. We drove, and the parking was right beside the hotel, easy to access, and cost 1,000 yen overnight. The rooms were small but a normal size, and we were happy as long as our luggage could lie flat. We could hear the neighbors talking, but it was muffled and didn’t bother us. There was a wide range of welcome drinks in the lobby and restaurant area. The shopping area was walkable, and laundry was available. They only cleaned the room on the third day, which suited us. I’d recommend this place, especially if you’re driving around Sapporo. We loved our stay. Thank you!

The staff were kind and helpful, and they speak a little English. The information they hand out is in English too. You can pick up a free soft drink each day at check-in, with options like soda, juice, coffee, and tea. It’s a small touch, but nice. The location is pretty good, with Nishi Juitchome and Susukino stations both nearby and good connections to the city’s larger stations.

Hotel Raffinato is a good low-cost option with what we needed. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was small but fine for one night, and the beds were comfortable enough. It’s really well placed for the ice festival. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast, with both Japanese and Western items, plenty to fill us up for the morning.
