I was there for seven nights in a “Deluxe Twin Room with Park View Cabin Floor”. From the 10th floor, the view of the famous tv tower was stunning. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There wasn't a TV, but there was a record player, which made for a relaxing change. A good idea. Getting around was easy. Odori Park is walkable, the Sapporo TV tower is right across the road, and there are lots of food places nearby. Shopping, subways, trains, and the underground walkway are all close too. The breakfast was the letdown. At around ¥2400 per person per day, it was the same every morning with little variety. It ran from 0700hrs to 1000hrs, and the two main menus, creep with either bacon and egg or baked beans, had a 0930hrs last call. There were also hot and cold drinks, cereal, and some buffet dishes, but those were the same daily too. Staff began clearing the buffet at 0915hrs, which isn't acceptable. I saw guests arrive at 0931hrs and get told they could only have what was left of the buffet, not either of the two main dishes. That wasn't fair. If breakfast is advertised until 1000hrs, guests should get what they're entitled to until then. After 1000hrs, sure, turn people away. Guests have paid for breakfast and shouldn't have to rush. People don't stay in a hotel just to wake up at 0700hrs for a meal. Some of us come back late and want to sleep in before breakfast, expecting it to be available until 1000hrs. I noticed this throughout my seven days there. I complained through the external booking agent app I used, and the hotel replied promptly, saying they'd advise the restaurant, but nothing changed. That cost the hotel a star in my rating. Aside from that, the hotel was superb, and I'd book it again, though I'd probably skip breakfast next time. Ms Bae and Duty Manager Mr Keisuke Takeda were exceptionally good. They both spoke English well. Bae helped when I had a room issue and gave us lots of ideas for things to do in Sapporo. Keisuke made my refund simple, with no complicated process, and arranged the cash refund through the external agency I had booked with. He was empathetic and suggested booking directly with them next time for the best rate and room. Kudos to them both.

What made the stay for me was the staff. Everyone we dealt with at the front desk was warm, upbeat, kind, and helpful. When I had a medical emergency, they helped me find a doctor. The cleaning was very good too. Thank you all so much. The hotel itself is the best city hotel I've stayed at on my trips to Japan. It's new and clean, with a smart layout. There's useful luggage storage under the bed, room to open two big suitcases at once, and plenty of space in both the shower and bath. Some rooms have windows that open for ventilation, and the tower view is really beautiful.

We had a comfortable, enjoyable stay and would gladly come back on another visit. The room size was listed, so we knew what to expect, and the website and other reviews make it clear that there are no TVs in the rooms and you collect your own amenities from the lobby. The location couldn't be more convenient, with most tourist spots and areas within walking distance and plenty of dining options nearby.

The location is excellent for getting around, and the shower was genuinely great, with strong water pressure. The bed was okay, though not especially comfortable. I had mixed feelings about my stay at The Royal Park Canvas. The rooms are very small and have little floor space. They seem to be going for a boutique feel with a record player and speaker, which sounds nice, but those take up room the space can't spare. It feels cramped instead of stylish. Fine if location matters most, but don't expect room to spread out or a real boutique experience.

I was extremely disappointed by how this was handled. Two months later, when I followed up, I was told they were “looking into it.” They asked for proof of my dad's accident, which I provided, but still declined the request. The whole situation and documentation were dealt with poorly, and the lack of compassion and customer care was upsetting. We thought the booking had been cancelled because we'd received a cancellation confirmation email. My dad had been in a serious accident around then, so we had a lot going on and trusted it was settled. When we didn't arrive, the hotel emailed to ask why. I explained what had happened and that we believed the booking was cancelled, but they charged my card $700 for the full five-night stay. I understand charging for the first night as a no-show, and I would have been willing to pay that. Charging for the entire booking without any discussion or flexibility felt very unreasonable.
