I got to know Kasai Inn over a year of stopping in every week, and the owners always made me feel welcome. The dining room has a homey feel, with all kinds of pictures, books, and souvenirs to look at. I first came for lunch, which is great value, and the daily special never let me down. The food is excellent, too. I also met a group of Americans who were there to fish and stayed in the rooms. They spoke highly of Kasai-san's knowledge of the local waters and fish, and said their stay in the centre of Sarufutsu was restful. The same lovely couple run the nearby cafe, open on weekends, where they serve good lunches, coffee, and sweet treats. Thanks for everything!

The shared toilet and sink were fine, and the landlady was warm and welcoming. The room was fairly clean, though the inn itself is old and worn. It was a bargain at 7,700 yen including tax for two meals. Since Thursdays are ramen day, I got black soy sauce ramen for dinner, which made me happy. I stayed by myself on June 26th, 2025. The shower had good water pressure, though the bathroom was small. It was over 25°C outside that day, and having only a fan with no air conditioning was tough. I also had trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi. The parking lot is on the gravel road behind the inn. One guest had come all the way from Tochigi Prefecture to fish for taimen, a freshwater fish.
