The café serves great food, though the portions are small, and it has an extensive wine list. There’s a huge video screen showing full-length movies while hip hop plays over the house system, which is very cool. The bar is good too, but costly. The hotel has an old-world style with modern conveniences. My room was very clean, and the free Wi-Fi was fast enough for YouTube at 1080 without buffering. Downloads were good as well. I was on the third floor and got full bars from its router, plus four bars from the second-floor router. The TV was small but had an HDMI port. It wouldn’t be my first choice, but I’d stay here again.

It’s a nice place with an old Western style. The room was the smallest I’ve ever been in, but cozy. The train next door bothered me, though closing the window solved it. I’d come back.

Too old, and the room was too smoky. Not good.

I was in Sasebo on business and most hotels near Sasebo Station were full. When a room opened up here, I booked it. It’s a bit far from Sasebo Station, but close to the shopping district, with a Matsuura Railway station nearby. The room was small, and the wavy wallpaper looked dirty at first, though that turned out to be its pattern. The building is somewhat old, but it was clean overall. The room supplies are basically handled like at many modern business hotels, where guests take what they need from the front desk, but the room itself felt very bare and gave a somewhat relaxed impression. The Matsuura Railway runs nearby. Noise might bother people in rooms facing the tracks, though I didn’t mind it. There’s a convenience store close by and the shopping district is walkable. The hotel sits a little off the main street, but the location is decent. Breakfast doesn’t have a huge selection, but it’s adequate. The miso soup and other soups were instant, with hot water poured over them, which made the service feel a bit cut back. Passable for a business stay.

I rode my motorcycle here and could park it in a covered area for 500 yen a day. The foreign staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little far from JR Sasebo Station. Room size depends on which one you get. Mine was about like a single at a Toyoko Inn, but opening the window made it feel spacious, and the sunlight was lovely. Wi-Fi worked normally, and there was coin laundry. A shopping arcade is a short walk away, so eating out was easy, and there’s a 24-hour convenience store nearby. I went for breakfast around 8:00 a.m. and there was almost nothing left. It’s free, so I can’t complain, but going earlier might be better.
