City Hotel Seki

Free parking is a plus, and it's fine for a simple overnight stop. It's a typical Showa-era business hotel, though quite a walk from the station, with no convenience stores nearby.

Dinner's shabu-shabu was excellent, and breakfast was filling too. The place was much cleaner than I expected, and both the front desk and restaurant staff gave fantastic service. It really felt like a great hotel.

The Western breakfast was the highlight for me: two slices of toast, salad, an omelet, and a drink, all delicious. The women working in the restaurant were so friendly that I'd happily eat here again. On my first stay, the front desk staff were kind and made a good impression. The room was nothing special, but I had no real inconveniences. I worried one futon might be cold, so it was nice to find blankets already in the closet. I'd stay here again if I get the chance.

There aren't many places nearby for a drink after dinner. I found two, but it's best to call ahead and check they're open. I was passing through on a motorcycle tour. The building and rooms are pretty old, though clean, and my room was a bit small but had no real issues. Being right beside Seki Police Station made the area seem safe. The lobby staff were helpful, as were the restaurant staff. Breakfast is served on the first floor in the restaurant next to the lobby, with Japanese or Western options. You need to tell them your choice when checking in the day before. I had the Japanese breakfast and it was delicious, especially the perfectly cooked rice. A satisfying way to start the day.
