The free laundry was handy, and you can use the massage chair at no cost, though it could use some refurbishing. The bath here is small, even for men, so it’s not ideal when several people are in it. The public bath is men only, which may be a downside for women. You can ask the front desk for a ticket to another nearby Dormy bath. I went to onyado, just across the street, and found that a good option. Good Dormy overall.

I stayed on a weekday in 2025/6. The walk from Sendai station took about 10 minutes, and the covered shopping street might make it possible to get there without an umbrella on a rainy day. Since the facilities are older, the room rate was a little cheaper than at other hotels. The building itself is old despite the new-looking name, with old-fashioned keys instead of card keys. The facilities are dated but clean. There’s a noticeable step between the room floor and the unit bath, and I kept thinking about it. Watch out if you’re drunk. I skipped the large bath this time, and it was for men only. There was a sauna, but the only tidy spot to sit in the bathroom was one chair. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty to choose from, including Sendai’s sasa-kamaboko, beef tongue curry, and zunda rice cakes. It was good, though I ate so much I gave up on visiting the famous morning market. As with Dormy Inn, there were complimentary buckwheat noodles at night, ice cream in the evening, and lactic acid drinks in the morning.

The location worked well, about a 10-minute walk from Sendai Station, and the tatami area upgrade gave us some welcome extra space. The stay was fine, though the hotel felt worn, with dated decor and room design that could use an update. My family couldn’t use the public baths because they were for men only. For a property with that dated feel, the price seemed a bit high.

For the price, the quality and value earn Dormy Inn four stars from me. The room was more spacious than at other budget hotels I’ve stayed in, and it even had a tatami lounge area. Beds were comfortable, the shower pressure was good, though the sink pressure wasn’t. Staff were friendly and efficient. There’s a free hot bath, men only, plus free access to a bathhouse a few minutes away. Weekday dinner and midnight noodles are also free. The location is convenient, about a 10-minute walk from the station, close to shopping, with several family marts nearby.

The hotel’s very old, although it was still clean. The breakfast was very basic. The onsen is for men only; women who want to use one have to go to an affiliated hotel. Pick the closest one, since the staff sometimes try to direct you to a farther option.
