Hotel Monterey Sendai

There were four of us, all adult-sized, and the room was very large for our group. The bathroom was great, with lots of hot water, strong water pressure, and a big bath area. I’d stay here again. Recommended for North American travelers who need large rooms.

A short walk from Sendai Station makes Hotel Monterey Sendai handy for business or sightseeing. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with modern amenities mixed into the old-world feel. Staff were polite and professional. What gives the place its character is the elegant vintage look: classic furniture, stained-glass windows, and warm lighting make it feel like a European mansion in the middle of the city, with a romantic, timeless atmosphere.

The staff were kind and accommodating, and the place has a distinctive feel and style. Some parts of the hotel and rooms are older, and there was sometimes an unpleasant smell from the bathroom. The location is amazing, though, and makes it easy to travel from Sendai to all kinds of places.

The public bath house, or onsen, is a nice feature. The place is a little old, but well maintained. Breakfast was fine, with enough choice even if there wasn’t a lot of variety. Good location.
