The rooms each have a smaller adjoining room, and the furniture is by Tendo Mokkou, which is nice. The building itself is nice now, and the food was excellent. They clearly take pride in its quality. I think this is one of the best inns in Tsukioka onsen. The garden was covered in snow when I visited in winter, but I imagine it’s especially lovely in the warmer months. I’d like to come back after winter.

A lovely, relaxing stay in an old riokan with a beautiful garden and onsen. The kaiseki food was superb, and the place was very clean. The service was great too. It’s in a small village where there isn’t really much to see.

The hot spring water felt medicinal and warmed me right through. There’s a sign reminding guests to take off any jewelry before bathing. I visited for the first time during the beautiful camellia bloom, and the food was excellent, with a very thoughtful, detailed menu. I’ll definitely stay again.
