The sulfur Onsen and the cozy atmosphere made this feel like home during my short stay. I had a very comfortable Japanese-style room, with a soft, fluffy bed, and there was tea and coffee in the lobby in the morning. The restaurant food was very nice, and the service was excellent even though my Japanese is poor. The hotel's location is great, right by the Tsukioka Onsen footbath and around the corner from sweets, souvenir and sake shops, restaurants, and cafes. Hospitality was wonderful throughout, especially at checkout: when I couldn't get a taxi, the staff made sure I could get to the station for my train.

The food service manager, Rota Shimada, will amaze you with his creations. You'll be tempted to stay longer just to enjoy more. It's a fine place, with friendly, attentive staff.

I loved the food, especially the crab and marbled beef shabu-shabu, and I left very satisfied. My room had an open-air bath, and the natural spring water had a strong sulfur smell that left my skin feeling radiant. The large public bath was spacious too. The original blend tea was delicious, and I ended up having four bowls of the crunchy plums. 😋
