The owner and staff were so welcoming, and they gave my family member who uses a wheelchair a lot of help during our stay. The food and onsen were great, too. The hotel has interesting Japanese touches all around for foreign visitors to discover. I hope to come back.

The quiet setting and thoughtfully chosen views made this feel like a very traditional Japanese onsen hotel. The baths were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. I really appreciated the attention to detail.

The stone steps are just a couple of minutes away, with Ikaho's shops gathered there, so getting around was easy. In winter, though, we slipped quite a bit on the narrow, steep road from the bus stop after it snowed on our arrival day. I'd ask for a pick-up or drop-off if the weather is snowy. The steps looked stunning under the snow. Our three nights at Oyado Tamaki were peaceful and comfortable. The rooms were spotless and full of their own charm, and looked even better than the photos. Ours had mountain views and looked out toward the stone steps. Traditional style and modern touches worked well together, and there were quiet little spots to enjoy the scenery. The meals were creative and delicious. We had mentioned dietary restrictions in advance, and the staff accommodated them. Dinner was filling for us, despite comments we'd read saying portions were small; breakfast was just the right size. The staff were attentive and welcoming throughout, and the small details made the stay feel personal and cozy. At the end, the owner, I think, and the staff came out to see us off. Their hospitality really stood out, and we'd happily recommend the ryokan.

We booked a day visit with lunch at Oyado Tamaki. The reception team were polite and helpful, and the clean baths felt peaceful. There were both silver and gold waters, with indoor and outdoor options. Lunch was tasty, with a good variety of dishes, and we had our own dining room overlooking the steps and mountains.

The view looks toward the famous Ikaho Stone St., but the hotel itself is quiet and restful. I got the full traditional Japanese experience, from check-in through the meal and onsen. The food and dining service were great, and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend it. Best hotel I've stayed in.
