The food was delicious, a Japanese-Western fusion, and the hot spring had two styles, though it wasn’t huge. My room had recently been renovated and the bed was comfortable. This is one of the few places in the area with a decent room and plans for solo travellers. The location may be a drawback, but they have parking and a shuttle to the stone stairs in the Ikaho centre area. I had a really nice weekend stay and would consider coming back.

The food was excellent, which makes sense since the hotel began as a restaurant. We chose this place because it’s known for accessibility. It has few steps and handrails in the public bath, so guests with limited mobility can get around and enjoy the hot springs safely. My elderly mother has trouble walking and had nearly given up on travel, so she was very happy to be able to take a trip and relax again.

A nice classic Japanese-style room and a great place to stay in Ikaho. There are onsens on the 8th and second floors.

The French dinner I chose was yummy, and they were happy to accommodate my request to avoid red meat. They also offer a choice of Chinese or French dinner. Breakfast, on the other hand, was mediocre, served at wobbly tables, and the coffee was bad. The hotel is attractive and well run, with a no-smoking room and free valet parking. It was reasonably priced and good value, so I recommend it.

The single room I had was kind of tiny, but the service was very good, the food was really nice, and the onsen was awesome. It’s not a cheap Ryokan, but I’ll definitely go back. It’s worth it!
