Hotel Polaris

There are plenty of nearby restaurants for dinner, and I was impressed by how flawless the English on the signs was. The staff are kind, breakfast is good, and the business hotel is clean and comfortable. I always stay here when I'm in the area.

Good.

I was here on business, and the room felt roomier and more upscale than I'd expected from a business hotel. The building looks old from the outside, though the interior seems nicely renovated. Free use of the washer and dryer, with detergent provided, was a thoughtful touch for work travelers. There’s a good yakitori place right across the street, and Ginza-gai, a drinking area known to those in the know, is right by the entrance. My one small gripe is the lighting: both the ceiling and bedside fixtures use fluorescent bulbs. That's unusual now, and I’d prefer adjustable LED lighting so guests who relax better in warm white light can switch from cool to warm.

The front desk coffee is delicious, definitely worth trying. The place may be a bit old, but it's clean, and the staff are so polite that you feel at ease.
