Ooi no Watashi - Hostel

I stopped here on the way to Ise Shrine and found it very relaxing. It’s a typical detached house, and the beds and living room were spotless and tidy. The owner was very friendly, and the price felt like great value.

We got a very warm welcome from the owner, who seems to love traveling. Guesthouses can sometimes feel cold, so this was a nice change. The place was much bigger than I expected and very clean. I appreciated having unlimited hand towels in the washroom. I’d happily stay again. I’d been told in advance that the motorcycle parking was uncovered. Since it was winter, there wasn’t any night dew, so it wasn’t an issue.

I’m still so grateful for the host. I was the only guest that day, and he spent time chatting with me and sharing hidden spots around Shimada. When I left in the morning, he watched me go until I turned the corner. I was so happy I cried. He’s a charming person, and the inn itself is incredibly beautiful, just as everyone says. Thank you so much. I’d love to come back!

I came to ride the Oigawa Railway Starry Sky Train, and they were flexible about check-in time. The owner was kind and polite, and the guesthouse was so beautiful and comfortable. I honestly think it beats staying in a cheap hotel. If you’re coming from another prefecture for the Starry Sky Train, this seems like a great place to stay. Thanks so much!
