The shuttle was very convenient, and our attendant Kosaku-San was fantastic. He was attentive and kind, and made our meals feel extra special. The ryokan itself was a wonderful experience, with beautifully maintained rooms, a deeply relaxing onsen, and kaiseki breakfasts and dinners that were masterpieces. English isn’t widely spoken, so if you’re uncomfortable being the only foreign guest or getting around with limited Japanese, it may feel challenging. But if you’re open to the cultural experience, it’s absolutely worth it.

I got to spend a night at this fabulous hotel, and it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The hot spring was magnificent. I hope I get the chance to visit again.

The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, from the front desk and restaurant team to Yamane-san, who was so helpful and had a great sense of humor. We came to Japan for Shimoda's famous hot springs and picked this hotel because of its strong reviews. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the surrounding nature was beautiful and peaceful. Thanks to Hotel Shimoda Central for making the trip so memorable.
