The baths were the biggest frustration. There were two for five or six rooms, and before dinner both were occupied, so we waited almost an hour. The baths are a bit far from our room, and we had to go check ourselves to see if either had become free. It would be helpful to check availability on a smartphone. Their size and facilities were quite different too. The larger one had nice amenities and scenery, while the small one had a poor tub and facilities. This felt more like a place to stay for the cuisine than to enjoy the onsen. The dishes were superb, and I ate every bit. They had a slight Chinese taste, but weren't as oily as usual Chinese food. Room cleaning was perfect, even on top of the wardrobe where guests seldom look. There was no dust, unlike what I remember finding on a wardrobe in a five-star hotel. Haduki seemed to have a good cleaning policy. The atmosphere was a little provincial but warm. Employees moved slowly and seemed less sophisticated. At times that made things feel cozy and lazy, and you had to go along with their way. Still, my impression of Haduki was great, and I'll visit again.

The bath was excellent, with refreshing brown water from the chloride spring called Hoekisen. The inn itself has the charm of an old building along the river, and I hope it stays there forever. It's impressive to find such a lovely place in Aichi Prefecture. The specialty is medicinal cuisine. The meals feel gentle on the stomach, and I'd recommend them to anyone tired of traditional kaiseki.

I arrived at 2pm and was told I could bathe straight away, so I chose the open-air bath. The river sounds and kites calling over the forest were soothing. Hazugi's baths are private use only, with an indoor and an outdoor option, and you use whichever is available when it's free. Dinner was my first medicinal cuisine course. I can't compare it with anything since it was my first time, but I found it delicious overall. I also got to visit the hot springs at one of the ryokans in the group, and had the quiet, relaxing time I was after. I was looking for somewhere peaceful in this hot spring resort and found Hazugi for my first visit. Yuya Onsen has a distinctly deserted feel overall, which had worried me. Some key parts of the building have been renovated, and the interior is spotless. Reception was pleasant and polite.

There aren't many people around, so it's easy to relax and unwind. I usually leave very satisfied. This time I went for a day trip with lunch, started the year with medicinal cuisine to get my body in shape, then soaked in the hot springs. I'd have liked to stay overnight and drink lots of medicinal liquor 😌, but the day trip is enjoyable too.

I visited for the day. The river view from the bath is fantastic, and the food felt gentle on the body and was really good. It's a ryokan where you can enjoy tasty Chinese medicinal cuisine and a hot spring with wonderful water quality.
