Our poolside villa was a hit with the kids. We could step straight from the balcony into the pool, and they had a wonderful time swimming and sunbathing. The food and service were superb. At the bar, there was a free flow of drinks and snacks, including a wide selection of sake, whiskey, beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks.

Pros: It’s brand new and all inclusive. Cons: The pool is small, and for the price, the spa and room should offer higher-end products. The meals weren’t very good or special. If you’re spending ¥300000 for a night, I’d recommend Kawakyu presidential suite.

The food was excellent, regional and locally sourced, and we looked forward to every meal. Our room didn’t face the ocean, but the lounge did, and it was empty most of the time. We also enjoyed a short walk on the beach in front of the hotel. We stayed two nights with our family, and the spacious room opened straight onto the heated pool, which was really handy for avoiding the cold wind when going in and out. From airport pickup to the very end, the staff made us feel looked after without being pushy. It felt homey. Everyone engaged with my child and willingly accommodated her needs. A shout-out to our waiter Yon-san, who was very friendly, gave us good advice and entertained us during meals. This was one of our best trips, and we’ll be back soon.
