Hawaiian Cottage Villa Shirako

The covered balcony means you can barbecue when it rains, though a crosswind can blow rain inside. The cottage (?) has Tefal, a hot plate, knives, a cutting board, dishes, cups, a fridge, a mini kitchen, a rice cooker, and more. You only need to bring charcoal for the BBQ. There are two toilets, one bathroom with a shower, and two sinks shared among guests. The toilets are super clean, and the accommodation price is reasonable.

The toilets and showers were clean, but the price still felt high. It’s the smallest campground ever, with residential buildings all around and no atmosphere. Local residents came to complain, and there was a dispute over what seemed to be a double booking. There’s only one sink. There’s little information about the place, and I suspect it may close soon because vegetation isn’t being maintained properly despite campfires being allowed.

My dog developed kidney failure and could no longer move, so I phoned to cancel the cottage I’d booked. They didn’t really ask why and told me I’d have to pay the full cancellation fee. I’ve cancelled by phone elsewhere before, but the staff here were exceptionally unfriendly and rude, which really upset me. I’ll never go near this place again.

If you’re taking guests, you should at least mow the grass and do some basic upkeep!
