We arrived later than planned after a long drive up the hill, but the scenery was lovely. The host specializes in astronomy, and the quiet area has no light pollution, so it's ideal for stargazing. We were lucky to see a clear sky with a full moon. Our room was spacious and the hot spring was nice. Both meals were amazing, with dinner and breakfast alike being excellent. I had a great stay!

The onsen was lovely, the bed comfortable, and the food was great. Staff were friendly and clearly cared about providing good service. A really exceptional experience.

Breakfast was nice.

The setting is quiet and beautiful, a peaceful break surrounded by nature. We loved the meals, some of the best we've ever eaten, and the four private onsens were stunning. The staff were wonderfully accommodating with us as English speakers, using their phones to translate when needed. We're grateful for their hospitality and the experience. We can't recommend this ryokan enough.

Meals were served in private rooms, and we were there during the season for mountain vegetables. Dinner included tempura, and breakfast had grilled sweetfish. They used plenty of local ingredients without making the dishes too extravagant, which somehow made the meals feel even more special. Both meals were delicious and left me feeling enriched. The five-room ryokan has a different character in each room, with its wood grain standing out against the green mountains. It's an easygoing 40-minute drive along the Abe River from Shin-Shizuoka Interchange. We stayed in the Tomaiyama room, a Japanese-Western mix that looked recently renovated, clean, and comfortable. There was even a rocking chair by the window facing the mountains, and we could enjoy the starry sky at night. The baths are private, with two open-air and two indoor options. One was always available, so I got to try all four. The thick, silky water eased my tiredness. The proprietress, waitresses, and owner were all attentive and cheerful. I'd like to return in autumn when the leaves change color. The only amenity provided is an all-in-one gel, so bring your own if you're particular about what you use.
