Hotel Nakanoshima Annex

The price is very cheap, and it fits what you get. As someone from a post-Soviet country, the place gave me USSR vibes: it's all very old and has an old smell. The beds weren't comfortable, the rooms didn't feel cozy, and there's nothing around except the lake. It could work if you have a car and just need an inexpensive place to sleep before leaving early.

The rooms are good and it's very quiet, but the location is bad. Check-in starts at 15:00, and there is nobody at the hotel before then. They won't make an exception.

The hotel has recently reopened. The staff were very nice and helpful. I recommend it!

I booked for the Obon holiday, but the room was like a sauna when I arrived. The air conditioning was on high, yet no cold air came out. At the front desk they said the unit was fine and would cool the room eventually. I sat in my car for about an hour and a half, then came back and noticed the hallway was cooler. After I reported it again, someone came to the room and said air had been trapped in the system and it should start blowing cold. I felt they should have apologized properly first. By then it was 9 PM, and I couldn't stay in a room that might not become comfortable for who knows how long, so I canceled. They did refund me, which I appreciated, though it left me feeling like I never wanted to visit Lake Toya again. The price is reasonable, but summer brings a different set of risks. If you're planning to stay, check the air conditioning beforehand.
