We grabbed coffee and one of each kind of bread from the lobby for a light breakfast in our room. The croissant, butter roll, and brown sugar bread were all free and much tastier than expected. The last two had butter inside, which was a nice surprise. They were fine at room temperature, and there’s a toaster in the lobby if you want to warm them up. There are sofas there too if you’d rather eat downstairs. We’d chosen a room-only stay, but coffee was complimentary whenever the lobby was open. In the morning they also had tea and orange juice, along with the bread. Hot water was available in the lobby during those hours, though we brought liquid formula for the baby. The rate was just 16,500 yen, including tax, for three adults and two children aged 0 and 3. It was a weekday before the busy season, which may explain the low price. Since the charge is per room, it’s a better deal with more people. We added a single extra bed to a twin room, probably double-sized, and had plenty of room to sleep comfortably. My husband and his family have stayed with this roadside hotel chain many times since he was a child. It’s found all over Japan. Things were a little chaotic, so I didn’t get any room photos, but we had a really great stay! (o´∀`o)

There’s plenty of room to spread out, with big comfortable beds, a table and desk, two chairs, and a roomy place for luggage. The table and chairs work well for sharing a meal face to face. Floors are carpeted, so you take off your shoes before going into the room. The bathroom and toilet are separate, though the bathroom has a sink for some reason. The rooms are clean and well looked after, and the whole place feels spacious and comfortable. It’s an inexpensive stay with a lot of things you need to handle yourself. There’s a mini-fridge, but renting a kettle costs 100 yen. No air purifier or humidifier, and amenities are limited. Toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and razors are sold, while extra towels and pajamas cost extra to rent. Each guest gets bath and face towels. Bring anything else you’ll need if you want to avoid extra costs. Mugs can be borrowed in the lobby, but they need to be returned, so paper cups may be easier. The lobby has a microwave, toaster oven, kettle, and coffee server, and they put out bread for breakfast. Plan ahead and bring what you need, and it’s very good value. There’s a longer account of my stay on my blog. The link is on my profile page.
The queen bed was amazing, and the room was clean. For a room-only stay, the price felt like good value. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was self-serve bread, coffee, and orange juice. It was my first visit, and I stayed in a room that allowed dogs and smoking. Hatagoya hotels are all over the country, so I’ll definitely use one again when I travel!
The free breakfast was a nice extra, with bread, coffee, and juice. The cancellation terms are pretty strict, though, so only book if you’re sure you’ll be staying the next day. The place had that American motel feel, in good ways and bad. It was spacious and nice, but being on the first floor bothered me a bit because of the view from the window. I kept the curtains shut the whole time.
There was some noise since the hotel sits between the road and train tracks, but I still slept fine 😁. The room, bath, and toilet were all very clean. The man at reception was really friendly, and I’d definitely stay here again.
