Tabist Hamatoya Ryokan

The cafeteria’s hours are ridiculously short. It isn’t open when it’s meant to be, and by half an hour before closing, everything has already been cleared away. Paying to eat there feels like a waste. Better to get food somewhere outside.

There aren’t many power outlets, so bringing an extension cord would help. You won’t find cups, teacups, or a teapot in the room. Toothbrushes, razors, and face towels aren’t supplied, though you can buy them, so it’s better to bring your own. The soundproofing is okay, but you can hear everything in the hallway despite the double-glazed windows facing outside. It’s cheap, so I can understand why the room has so little in it. Breakfast costs ¥300, which seems fair, and dinner is ¥700, not bad when there aren’t many restaurants nearby. There’s a drink vending machine, but no alcohol. The coin laundry is outside in a dark spot. Washing costs ¥200, the dryer is free, and detergent is provided.

That minced meat cutlet at dinner was absolutely delicious. I stayed here some time ago, and it was a good, inexpensive place to stay.

Other places were fully booked because of my work schedule, so I ended up staying here. They were very helpful when I needed to change my schedule. The futon was fluffy, and I slept well.
