Sea Aiga Kaigetsu

A beautiful sea view and all the classic comforts of a ryōkan. Nothing to complain about.

We came on a tour, and for 40 bux usd we got to go places and have a free lunch here. I think lunch was about 3000 yen, but it didn't feel worth the price. You need to be good at BBQ, and there's no service to speak of, so it's a choose-your-own-adventure meal. The flies were everywhere, so make sure you have one guard for every two people!!!! They must be hatching from somewhere.............. I barely had any contact with the staff, and they hardly even make eye contact. The one good thing was sneaking off to fish nearby. Look for an opening between the restaurant and the rooms next door. And cook the welk all the way through. If its shell turns black and crumbles, it was probably on too long and will be like chewing rubber. Keep flipping the meat, and start with the pork so its fat heats the coals for everything else.

It was a great experience. If you're after fresh local fish, this place has some of the best barbecue in the area. You choose a menu set: the special one costs about 8000yen/person, while the normal set is cheaper at about 5000yen/person. They bring you the fish, then you cook it yourself on the barbecue. There's also a Drink bar, salad bar, and desert.

The buffet gives you other food options, and there’s the convenience of grilling outdoors over charcoal. But for the price, getting just 300 grams of assorted meat and a few vegetables felt like watching my hard-earned money disappear during dinner. The serving utensils were sticky and clearly well used, so remember to wash your hands after handling them.
