The meals were plentiful and left us very satisfied. We stayed here for a family ski trip, and the inn felt warm and comfortable, even out in the hallways. One thing to watch for: on the third floor there are several low spots, including by the entrance, where you could bump your head.
The restaurant gets high marks for its food and for being close to the ski resort. The host likes both drinks served cold: Suiro's Ginjo Nama Sake No. 1 is 700 yen, and Ebisu's Nama Dai is also 700 yen.
I come here for skiing, and the location works well for getting to all the ski resorts around Sugadaira. It's a cozy guesthouse, and the meals are enormous, enough to make you feel like a carnivore. The tap water is really cold, though, so washing my face in winter was rough.
The BBQ was a lot of fun when I went in mid-September 2015, ten years ago. It was cold, though!
Meals are very filling, which young people might enjoy, though children and middle-aged guests may find there's too much. The building has a mountain hut style, and you can hear noise from the hallways and neighboring rooms.
