At 6,000 yen a night, this was useful when everywhere else seemed booked up. The rooms are pretty standard. My room was in the new building, while reception is in the main one. It’s a bit of a walk between them, but after you’ve got your key there’s no need to return to the main building. There’s no elevator, so hauling big luggage is awkward, and the convenience store is also some distance away. Having a car makes the location fine, but Tagajo Station is far, which is inconvenient. A bus goes to the station in the morning, though service in the other direction ends early in the evening.

The main upside for me was being able to cook. I brought plates for camping, a little frying pan, and seasonings from Daiso, then made sugar rice for dinner. It was fun to cook for myself during an overnight stay. The small kitchen has just a single burner, pot, and kettle, with no dishes or seasonings supplied. A microwave and washing machine are in the shared area. The building feels at least 30 years old and quite worn, and I couldn't tell whether beds are made during multi-night stays. You pick up the key at a nearby front desk and drop it in a return box when you leave. It’s a very cheap place in an apartment building opposite the Japan Self-Defense Forces Tagajo Garrison, with free parking. Sendai Station is 16 km each way, so with the time and fuel, I'd probably pay 2,000-3,000 yen extra to stay nearer the station. It makes sense if you have time, don't need to drink downtown, and want to make your own meals.

The annex might be fun for a longer stay, since there's a gas stove and I could imagine living there. My coffee drip packs smelled of cigarettes, though, so I had to use deodorizer. Wi-Fi was slow, and carrying my heavy suitcase upstairs was a pain. The boiler gets hot and the water pressure is strong, so a more powerful shower would be nice. (*^^*) ♪♪ 💡☕️

I found this on Rakuten Travel because weekend stays in Sendai cost a lot. It’s an apartment-style place, older and with thin walls, but I was comfortable enough. There was room to open my suitcase in the studio, and the bed was spacious, the AC cooled well, and the refrigerator worked nicely. Car noise wasn’t an issue as long as the neighbors stayed quiet. Basic amenities are there, including shampoo in packets. There’s a kettle and a pot, but no plates, chopsticks, or dish soap, so bring those. It may suit longer stays better. Someone expecting a new or renovated hotel to a certain standard could be disappointed. I had worried about the somewhat low reviews, but it was fine without high expectations. I spoke with two staff members by phone. One was very kind, while the other seemed hard of hearing. The call ended abruptly before we could really talk, which left me uneasy. Maybe it was a signal problem, but I hope they can improve that. It seems you can leave luggage before check-in. Tabist seems to be a nationwide chain, and they replied incredibly quickly to my email inquiry. I didn't try the Wi-Fi, so can't say how well it works. One thing that bothered me was the TV: I pressed channel 6 at random and landed on an adult channel. I guess it's a service aimed at men, but it made me uncomfortable. For reference.

Dust around the air conditioner and TV kept falling, which was unbearable with my rhinitis. There looked to be bed bug droppings in one spot on the curtain, and I wouldn't stay here privately again. The walls, toilet, bath, floor, kitchen, and refrigerator were clean. I also found a long hair in the clothes left there, even though I have short hair.
