The rooms were dirty and smelled bad, with yellowing from cigarette smoke, and the place was expensive. I booked at reception for two nights and made that clear. After we went out for a walk the next day, we got back at 3 p.m. and were told to leave because we supposedly hadn’t respected checkout time. I tried to explain that we had booked two nights, but they wouldn’t listen, so we had to collect our things and go. We were treated terribly and felt ripped off because I had paid for both nights. In years of traveling in Japan, I haven’t encountered anyone this rude.
