Guesthouse Eleven Village Fukiya

Reading outside in the morning, looking out over Fukiya Furusato Village, was one of my favorite parts of our stay. My spouse and I also loved the evening chats with the owners and unwinding in the bath. We’ll definitely return. Thank you! The guesthouse is run by a lovely family, with organic products and thoughtful environmental practices. They’re involved in several community projects, including a lifestyle research institute, a community library, a radio village, and a co-working space. There are also worksheets in the rooms for reflecting on life and yourself. It has an old-world feel and a peaceful Zen atmosphere, with plenty of room to relax and enjoy your own time.

Getting picked up at the bus stop made all the difference. It was completely dark when I arrived, and I’d started to feel uneasy. I was traveling alone, and there were two other guests from Taiwan. The mornings and evenings were still cold, so they had a fire going and a hot water bottle ready on the bed. I also found the large bath really relaxing. The next morning, they treated me to a delicious coffee. It’s a lovely place to stay. During spring break, the owner’s children were gathering wild plants, and we had a nice chat. I’d definitely like to come back.

Coffee on the wooden terrace, looking out at the red-painted townscape, was pure bliss. The inn’s family are wonderful, and the food is truly delicious. The building has the sturdy look of a storehouse, with plaster walls and stylish, authentic materials throughout. It’s a very eco-conscious place, right down to the soft organic cotton sheets. The large cypress bath made for a unique experience.

The best part of the trip was meeting the owners’ two children. Their son showed us around and was so thoughtful, keeping out of the way during the tour but checking on us often. He was adorable, caring, and playful. His little sister, the poster girl, had big round eyes and was incredibly cute. She was a bit of a tomboy, maybe following her older brother’s example. I hope they’ll always stay kind, honest, and wonderful siblings. Thank you for such a lovely encounter!
